First Light Breakfast Roast
$18.00
A light-medium breakfast roast that stays sweet as it cools. Brown sugar and orange up front, cocoa underneath. At $18 it is the least expensive coffee we make, and it is the one we recommend to people who find darker roasts heavy.
First Light exists because the house blend is not for everyone before 8am. It is roasted two notches lighter, which keeps the acidity present without tipping into sourness, and the Honduran component gives it enough sugar to drink black.
It is also the bag we most often recommend against upgrading from. If you drink drip coffee with milk, the single-origin lots will not taste like more money — this will taste like exactly what you wanted.
